Solar pillar atmospheric effect
A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in the form of a vertical band of light which appears to extend above and/or below a light source. The effect is created by the reflection of light from numerous tiny ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere or clouds.

Bringing my new Red Epic-W there has been great to shoot the numerous waterfalls and water features this country is so famous for. Etna over Catania.
Italy has two cities at high risk from volcano hazards, Napoli, next to Vesuvio, and Catania, sitting under the shadow of the (nearly) ever erupting Etna. The hazards at the former are familiar from the excavations at Pompei and Herculaneum, old Roman resorts buried by pyroclastic flows in 71CE. Catania is built in superimposed archaeological layers, with the occasional lava flow in between.
